Under Fair Trading NSW builders licensing laws, you can come out of your carpentry apprenticeship work under a licensed builder for a further 2 years then complete your building certificate 1v with a registered training organization, which can take as little as 6 weeks and apply for your full builder's license. But then you can be in the industry all your life and do the same and be unable to obtain it. It's got a lot to do with how much money you've got and who you know.
