Price of ferrosilicon in Japan is through the roof. This is one of OM Sarawak's main markets.
The price is now 245,000yen/tonne or US$2,227.39/tonne.

The transaction price of ferrosilicon, an alloy iron used as a deoxidizing material during steelmaking, reached its highest level for the first time in 41 years. The buying price of spot (contracted at any time) products is currently around 245,000 yen per ton. It increased by 40,000 yen (20%) from the previous month, surpassing the previous high of around 240,000 yen in June-July 1980. Supply instability in China and Malaysia is pushing up the market.
In China's main production area, Ningxia Autonomous Region, electricity consumption is part of environmental measures .
