I read Bolt's nasty, mean-spirited blog (code for: "don't judge me by journalist standards, I'm just a blogger") today about SA and knew his fangirls would be spreading his petty vindictiveness and political point scoring here.
In SA, we feel for those in Queensland when they suffer cyclones and floods and, while they piece their lives together, try not to point out the state's unwillingness to insure itself like all other states but rather put its hand out for federal cash. And we send SA firefighters to Victoria on those horrible days, even when we know Victoria has caused many of its bushfire problems by turning its back on the safeguards that kept the state safe for decades after the 1939 fires. Likewise, we're there for NSW fires and disasters and other states and territories. Have always supported NT (remember rebuilding Darwin?) and Broken Hill and Mildura with access to services even though they're not in our state.
Now when we have a 1 in 50 year storm with 80,000 lightning strikes, and gale force winds over desert country with no tropical rainforest to break up the impact, apparently it's time to sneer at SA and make fun while we try to put our lives together and count the cost.
How classy. But will that mean we won't be there for the next Vic bushfire or fundraising for the next Qld cyclone? Nope - of course we'll be there, because not every Australian is a nasty piece of work like Andrew Bolt, and even if they were they would still need our help.

I just heard that crews are coming from interstate to help with the cleanup.
ElectraNet have made good progress reconnecting people in the mid North but those on the West coast, Eyre peninsula and lower Yorke peninsula will have to wait.
They are borrowing some mobile transmission towers from interstate as a temporary measure, to reconnect those sparsely populated areas.
Telstra are also bringing in some generators and self powered satellite mobile tower units to help alleviate the communication problems.
