I reckon there will be a point where dash cams will be integrated in all cars . New cars already have a lot of saftey infrastructure integrated such as front radar , lane warning systems , reverse cameras etc so adding a dashcam/black box will be no biggy .

The police have been wanting standard blackboxes for quite a while . Some European models already have that but getting access to the data has been an issue .
Insurance companies would love to have dashcam footage as well for obvious reasons . Especially if the rear camera is linked to it as well .

And then there's the all around camera system like Nissan has . Pretty easy to find out who was at fault if you have that kind of footage available , let alone with the black box data as well .

It's a bit big brother but it's probably a good saftey tool .
