In Australia there has never been a conviction for treason, not even in wartime. The reason we don't have these treason type laws is because they can be used by one political party against their opponents. Maybe there is some justification in that. But good ol slippery Sam seems to think there's no moral dilemma associated with supporting the interests of a foreign country against Australia's interests, even when you are in conflict with your own party's policy. So as long as these new laws are clearly drafted and require evidence rather than interpretation to get a conviction I am ok with it. But what about conspiracy to commit treason? I think it should be illegal too.
