In all seriousness.....I cannot think of any logical reason why AGM directors have to advise the market when any person or company walks into their data room. Surely the time for an announcement is when a party makes contact indicating some interest to move on further. As I understand it any Tom, Dick or Harry can come and inspect the data room.

I worked for a number of years at a gold mine in Ghana in West Africa that went through a sale process and set up a data room. From what I can remember every gold mining company in Ghana visited and I suspect in almost all cases simply went there to get a first hand look at how the mine was progressing.

The company that finally took over the mine (it was Golden Star Resources - US company) did not even visit the data room. It in fact did a deal with Anvil (then small Aussie coy) after Anvil was invited by the vendors in as preferred buyer.
