Cheap! We are paying through the nose because current big coal/oil lobby groups are attached at the hip to the current govmint. We pay more for our own LPG gas then Japan does for ours.
Subsidies! An intial subsidy for solar, it is a one off, thats it. Then what do you get back? A quarter per kwh of what the power oligopolies are charging. How is that a subsidy? It's a ripoff!
Unreliable power source? The reason South Australia power went down was because a storm took out a mains feed from a coal powered electricity station, repeat in case you missed it, A FOSSIL FUEL POWER STATION.
The most reliable power source is a battery. Telecoms have been using them to filter supply and for back-up from the 1940's. All major data centres have back up battery power supplies. Current batteries will still be powering the same EV after your new ICE vehicle is being recycled . Travel 400km in a car and you don't want to rest and stay overnight? Fast charging can give you 100km in 20min with current EV's.
