Futures are ok if you get the direction correct within the right timeframe,

futures take way more accuracy because by contrast you can sit on a lump of metal and take an investment position, buy it a few months or years early and its no biggy(apart from the opportunity cost because there is no yield),
but if you have to take a out a new futures contract every 3 months, if your timing is off, it could be costly over time, plus you are competing against some phenomenal traders,
and successful futures traders are some of the best in the world, best not to trade against them in the shorter term moves if you want to keep your shirt.
