I happen to live right near a brown coal fired power station, the dirtiest power producer of them all, yep they do have precipitaters when they are working, but they also switch them off at night time because they use power.
Solar is already at parity in most states with coal fired power and with the price of power and the grid still going up, solar will be the better option hands down, without subsidies especially when CPV comes into it's own, but if the government gives subsidies in one form or another to coal fired power then they should at least match that for solar but they wont, in fact they (LNP) are placing roadblocks to solar, how short sighted is that?
Like I said, if Abbott persists in attacking renew-ables then I won be voting for him next time around.
