It really depends on what the costs are - are the costs on things that will have a strong ROI like employing more sales people and bringing new products to market - which we all think is the case then there is no issue with these costs.
Amazon is famous for hardly making any profit and reinvesting everything for maximum growth for it first 20 years to get itself into the dominant position it finds itself now. I see no issue in this approach at all. Obviously I doubt it will take so long before profits are coming in - but so long as the expenses are providing a good ROI then they should continue.
