jconnell, Quite well put, you have a touch of a gifted playwrite in you it seems.
As my speculation and continuing from my guess after reading his article, it might be that the major crime of his fellow travellers was, in having acknowledged his presence and fame, they possibly did not follow though by according him the god status (or some way towards that status) that those acknowleged as gifted sometimes seem to ecpect.
His article seems more a window to his many pretentions rather than any valid criticism of his fellow passengers.
