Toyota are signing their own death warrant. If you look at the detail of the Toyota announcement, even with this ‘surge’ they’re aiming for <25% pure BEV by 2025-2030 maybe as few as 1 million BEV cars annually after 2025. At that point most in the know expect electric cars to be cost equivalent for similar sized ICE alternative and still on a downward cost trajectory. They’re simply going to get left behind in both technology and production capacity. There is no way that hydrogens complex logistics will compete with the existing power infrastructure or indeed home based solar/battery storage. Someone needs to sit the Toyota top management in a Tesla 3 performance and point out that BEV’s are already better than ICE, and that it won’t take much longer for them to be cheaper too...
