I think you mean ‘we’re the best’ no doubt their revolutionary moves in production lines, lean thinking and ‘just in time’ logistics meant they dominated the auto industry. However even they admitted recently that they dropped the ball and VW’s processes and structures have leap frogged they hence VW taking the lead as the biggest and most influential car manufacturer in terms of legacy auto’s.
Being big and having a good track record means little when it comes to surviving paradigm shifts from disruptive technologies, just ask the big horse farmers who were around in the late 19th century or the railway tycoons around the world or indeed the ocean liner businesses. You might want to ask the big US retailers if they feared Amazon fifteen years ago...
i might just be an HC poster but the writing is soon going to be on the wall and I’m happy to risk every dollar I can get my hands on betting on battery/renewables disrupting the car and energy industries
