Final thought and I’ll stop polluting this thread, Toyota and others are also in an impossible position vs Tesla or other new pure electric entrants. They can only shift to the logical next transport solution/revolution by killing their existing business. Legacy Auto will start to die five years before BEV’s actually make individual economic sense, people will stop buying ICE vehicles and defer their purchase for the EV they really want and think they can afford soon, they certainly won’t want to risk a new ICE with the prospect of collapsing resale values - this is even more the case in countries like China or in Europe with aggressive plans to get rid of fossil fuel vehicles through pollution charges, car taxes, fuel taxes etc. We’re very close to the steepest part of the S shapes adoption curve...
