It is the automobile makers that will be (actually already are), the primary drivers for the need for energy metals (li, nickel, cobalt, manganese) required to make Li Ion batteries.

All the news that I have seen from the automakers, without exception, is positive.

More and more auto makers are stating they will be introducing BEV cars in the near future and the BEV models will represent 50% or 100% of their range by between 2025 and 2030. Even those who have made forecasts of their investments some months ago (e.g. VW, Toyota, which are the 2 largest) are now revising their estimates upwards! New ones are jumping on board e.g. Aston Martin.

Add to this the new announcements coming almost every day of other BEV and hybrid vehicles and storage.... too numerous to mention here, but they range from ships to aircraft, scooters to semi-trailers, home storage to grid storage for utilities.

Clearly this is a once in a lifetime event!

There is a lot of investment coming based on announcements being made by major organisations. These organisations have to follow the same full disclosure rules as other companies on stock exchanges around the world. The announcements are not made lightly! Much background work has to be done by many parts of each organisation before they can make any statement on future investments.

If anyone is still not convinced about the move to BEV vehicles then do yourselves a favour and do some googling then list the announcements made by the automobile manufacturers regarding future investments in BEVs.

Then add the amounts you have written down and the time periods that were quoted.
Then consider that this is only part of the story and there are other uses for Li ion batteries in addition to those on your list.

Then consider where all the raw materials will come from and the time required to bring new mines on stream - PLS was fast, only 4 years plus ramp up period, so assume 5 years.

Then decide on the demand Vs supply situation based on your own analysis.

I own PLS and I feel comfortable in my investment as I am looking at a 3-5 year time frame and am looking at the potential profit growth over that time. I am not driven by the share price although I do try to take advantage of lower prices to increase my holding when I am ready to buy more. With so much price manipulation going on, I believe it is safer to look over a longer term and base my investment decisions on company value rather than share price.

This is not financial or investment advice but an example of my own thinking and basis for my investment decisions. Everyone needs to do their own research and evaluation according to their own requirements and standards. If not sure about any investment, don't invest in it.

Add to that is the introduction of tighter gas emission standard in europe, us, china and eventually covering majority of the whole auto market. Basically, the auto makers are forced to drop ICE as they will be too expensive to build or not achieveable.
Fuel cell ev is an option, however, the fact is currently the biggest player on fuel cell ev (toyota) have just committed to battere ev. That says alot about lithium-ion battere ev.
