Prices have already dipped, the prices SQM, ALB, ORE, etc were getting in the first half of 2018 would have been based on contract prices negotiated back in Dec 2017.
However, it appears prices have bottomed, while carbonate prices fell again last week, lower prices were accepted on brine feedstock used to covert to hydroxide, given the additional processing required and thus higher cost to covert.
Li hydroxide prices were unchanged over the past week, fetching $19,000 to $20,000 pt, whereas carbonate fetching $16,000 to $18,000 pt, and in some cases $15,000 pt due to said additional processing costs.
