That isn't averaging down though.
To use your example:
You buy 1 share today at $1
Tomorrow you buy another share at $1
You sell your 1 share for $1.01
Your average purchase price per share is now $1 as it has been from the start.....
You might have been able to increase your holding by trading but you will not be able to average down below the lowest point in a given period.
