Configurations are obviously going to be different for various manufacturers and models etc.
What manufacturers run the configuration you are suggesting? seems a bit old school.
Decent EV producers like Tesla definitely run a motor an each separate drive wheel with an electronic "differential" which regulates wheel speed as required. So no need for drive shafts and mechanical differentials and multispeed gearboxes like in traditional ICE vehicles. I haven't really looked into the specs but I cant imagine Porche, Audi, BMX, VW and the like running one motor per axle with driveshafts etc, makes no sense.
