    I can't see there being any significant move by Government yet on EV's for Australia until they work out a replacement to the lost fuel excise revenue and a way to implement said replacement.

    Australians are quick to take up technology/services that they see a direct benefit to themselves with.
    Joe Public on the whole (not all) are not convinced that EV's are the way to go for them personally at this time. 4 out of the top 10 selling cars a 4x4 Dual Cabs, there is not yet an EV that suits this market.

    Diesel and Petrol powered cars are still being made and will be continued for a number of years yet. Some car manufacturers are looking to 2025, others 2040 before ending ICE powered vehicles.
    With an average age of over 10 years for cars on Australian roads it will be some time before we see significant numbers of EV's on our roads.

    Market penetration of EV's in Australia is very small and will continue to be for some time, it will grow. No doubt and at a certain point of market share will likely then increase at a more exponential rate.

    In the grand scheme of things with Australia's small population subsidies and government legislation to push us into EV's faster than the markets natural take up rate is not necessary.

    Down the track you may get subsidies of say $5000 towards an EV but most likely by then we will have road usage charges attached as well.
    I'll be surprised if the average user charge under that system is under $2000 a year to replace fuel excise revenue.
