Indonesia is the second largest producer of ferronickel and very little of their ore can be refined with current technology to be suitable for battery use.
They have announced they are going to build a very large, newer tech refinery that can transform their low ore grades to battery purity.
They want to be a major battery producer for China as I read it and have openly said they need Australia to supply them with lithium to be successful.
