A lot of the nuggety deposits dont go anywhere they quite literally just end in the specific layers like muds, gravels, conglomorates, saprolites, laterites etc. These are all old river channels that carried the gold from the mountains or the source and then deposited the gold in the bed and the out layers of the bed. Much of that gold was taken in the gold rush in Victoria. I am of the opinion there is some elephant gold in the Avoca Mountains and Mount Lonarch etc in the golden triangle.
The reefs can also end quickly too. It all really depends I suppose. What we need to understand is that not all of these NSW deposits can or will hit so its about picking the right ones. Understanding the age of the systems in relation to the Lachlan traverse zone structure and understanding the surrounding areas and geologies will really help.
