There's no 1 reason. Several factors come into play. Main reasons would be: Volume, chart position (is it in breakout, heading to breakout etc etc etc), price action during the day, COH, MC, sector, anticipation of a news event. I actually prefer not to hold anything overnight, a stock basically has to convince me that it's worth while.
