I think it's one area that retail is on a slightly more even playing field with the institutions. Even the institutions have to check by placing an order whether there's unmet demand when they're intending on moving the price up or down to the next level. I'm imagine a lot of the time, institutions have the majority of orders on both sides of the depth and can easily spot retail orders which drop in amongst them.
