Dont underestimate just how important this forum is to a lot of people. I see it all the time on the threads - noobs asking for advice from people whom they think are knowledgeable. The up and down rampers work here for one reason - they get results. If an Ann comes out before morning open, the intitial SP movement always seems to follow the sentiment of any substantial pre discussion on the threads . Hilarious.
More and more people are stock trading now I reckon. Look at the number of ETFs in the 52 week hi list now - its chock fullof them now, more than 50% the last few days. Cash rate is so low thats where folk are moving their money by the looks of it..
