A follow-up to a comment I made regarding the concept of being free-carried. A guy takes $500 to the casino and finishes a night of playing blackjack with $5000. A month later, he returns to the casino with the same $5000 and finishes the night with $500. His mate asks him how he went and he replies, I broke even.
Maintaining the concept of being free-carried does have the tendency to cloud judgment and encourages us to ignore negative aspects of how a situation is playing out. Holding the idea that we have a safety net underneath doesn't lessen the likelihood of us falling, it increases it.
