Most start as a spec though. As this is DT thread it's probably a very VERY rare thing that they are held that long to show true value if that stock turns out to be a diamond.
Most are traders not investors. And my guess is, more than they care to admit, most are likely swing traders, eg me. I do DT, but if something's looking too good I'm happy to hold longer.
In saying that, I've been burnt many a time on O/Ners.
Still haven't learnt that.
Does depend on the stock at times, eg, too higher % move on the day, too higher SOI.
I'm much more compfy holding MidCaps or stocks with low SOI.
Swing trades have to hold some sort of decent FA to keep momentum going. I have P plates.
But seriously call me John Snow.
