As for unbalanced portfolios.
Yes diversification is important. But someone once said this to me (after I'd made a nice $150k error in diversifying).

He said. Diversify. But stick to your strengths. Stick to a sector you know.
I.e. If you know mining. Diversify there. Don't try and buy financial stocks for the hell of it.
Don't know the bio sector and then diversify into retail stocks.

Watch your sector, don't try and watch the whole market.
