End-of-day summary:
Aussie stocks rose for the fourth time in five sessions as the healing continued on global markets and the domestic earnings season warmed up.
The ASX 200 firmed 36 points or 0.46%. Tech and consumer stocks led the advance. Resource stocks were the only drags.
The market rewarded trading updates from JB Hi-Fi, CAR Group and HealthCo Healthcare and Wellness REIT, while punishing Beach Energy and Aurizon.
The full-year earnings season ratchets up this week with updates from CBA, CSL, Telstra, AGL, James Hardie, Origin, Goodman Group and Cochlear.
US stocks ended last week on the upswing. The S&P 500 rallied 0.47% on Friday to finish the week almost flat despite Monday's brutal sell-off.
