Thanks afternoon crew. Go the Matildas.

    End-of-day wrap:

Aussie shares closed at their lowest in more than a month as worries about a China slowdown weighed on markets around the globe.

The ASX 200 sagged 110 points or 1.5% to 7195. Today's close was the index's first below 7200 since July 12.

The local market joined a global retreat that started in Asia yesterday after Chinese industrial production and other growth measures fell significantly short of targets. Overnight, European and US stocks fell before the selling resumed today in Asia.

At the Australian close, share benchmarks in Hong Kong and Japan were both off more than 1.3%. The Asia Dow was down a hefty 1.93% at a level last seen in early June.

Tech, mining and bank stocks led today's ASX retreat. Bapcor, Mirvac and Vicinity Centres were among the best of the top 200 companies following trading updates.
