Thanks afternoon crew.
End-of-day summary:
Earnings disappointments helped drag the share market to a second straight loss as the domestic reporting season got into full swing.
The ASX 200 dropped 11 points or 0.15% to 7604.
Gains in the big four banks and some of the major miners helped cushion the index against post-report declines in CSL, Macquarie Group, Breville, James Hardie, Seek and Charter Hall Social Infrastructure. Challenger was the only significant winner from today's trading updates, rallying 8.36%.
US stocks tested fresh highs overnight before selling pressure crept in mid-session. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq finished lower by 0.09% and 0.3%, respectively. The Dow clung on to a gain of 0.33%.
US futures continued lower this afternoon. At the Australian close, S&P 500 futures were down 0.17%.
