End-of-day summary:

The share market marked time for a second session as Friday's flat finish on Wall Street and a US market holiday tonight subdued buying interest.

The ASX 200 overcame much of its early weakness to finish little changed, down two points or 0.03%. The index finished within five points of where it closed on Thursday.

Uranium miners provided much of the sizzle during a low-key session. Boss Energy and Paladin Energy were the index's best performers after uranium prices topped US$100 per pound. A strong trading update lifted Super Retail Group and other retailers, including JB Hi-Fi and Premier Investments.

US stocks finished mixed on Friday heading into a long weekend. Trade resumes on Wall Street tomorrow night.
