Day traders' after-market lounge January 29

End-of-day summary:

The share market closed within 0.75% of a record as energy producers and property stocks spearheaded a seventh day of gains.

The ASX 200 rallied 23 points or 0.3% to 7578. Woodside Energy and Santos were the best of the heavyweights following oil's best week since October. The REIT sector climbed to a two-week high. The big four banks put on 0.67% - 1.1%.

Today's rally swept the index to within 0.72% of the record it first set in August 2021 and nearly matched earlier this month.

The S&P 500's six-session winning run ended on Friday as a weak outlook from Intel helped drag the index down 0.07%. The Dow firmed 0.16%.
