A broad relief rally carried the Australian share market to its first gain in five sessions after Wall Street steadied ahead of inflation data and earnings reports.
The ASX 200 bounced 105 points or 1.5% off yesterday's three-month low. Gold and lithium miner spearheaded gains, supported by tech and property stocks. Small caps and speculative stocks also rose strongly.
The rally followed Wall Street's first advance in four sessions. US equity futures were modestly higher at the Australian close ahead of tomorrow night's consumer inflation report and quarterly updates from several of the big banks. S&P 500 futures were +0.13%.
