The Australian share market rallied for a third session on the eve of this month's interest rate decision.
The ASX 200 climbed 1%, encouraged by the Dow's best session since January and hopes the Reserve Bank will leave benchmark rates on hold tomorrow.
The speculative end of the market struggled as attention swung to the big end of town. The Emerging Companies Index sagged 0.62%. The Small Ords fared better, rising 0.54%.
US index futures were mixed but mostly lower at the Australian close. S&P 500 futures were flat. Nasdaq futures eased 0.26%. Dow futures inched up 0.13%.
