A very positive session for the near-term outlook. A 'higher high' for the ASX 200 today following a 'higher low' last week suggests the seven-week downtrend may be breaking at last.

ASX 200 up 1.04% at the close.

Strong session for small caps also suggests improved risk appetite. Small Ords +2.19%. Looks like the best day for the small end since Jan 4.

US futures tentatively higher. S&P 500 futures +0.14%.
