Thanks afternoon crew.
End-of-day summary:
Aussie shares eased for a second session as early gains evaporated ahead of risk events tonight in the US.
The ASX 200 flipped a 28-point mid-morning gain into a final loss of 3.6 points or 0.05%. Declines in energy producers, supermarkets, Telstra, Wesfarmers and CBA outweighed gains among bulk metal miners and the rest of the banks.
Buyers seemed reluctant to hang around ahead of earnings from AI poster child Nvidia tonight and the release of the minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting. Options action indicated traders reckon the chip-maker's shares could swing up to 8.7% in either direction, depending how tonight's first-quarter trading update is received. The AI frenzy has made Nvidia the US's third-largest company by market capitalisation.
US stocks finished higher overnight, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite at new records. The S&P 500 gained 0.25%.
