I've just been finding out about HECS debt. Jeezus, what a trap. Make a big issue about interest free but guess what? Goes up 7.9% this year from Jun 1. And daughter has pay slips showing $$$s been taken out but nothing was paid in cos under the limit. So gets repaid in tax rebate but not stated so you don't realise. They don't send any statements. Long story short, nothing has been paid back and about to go up So I have paid it all off so there's not an huge debt accumulated in another few years. Considering this started off quite small I worry about kids with $100K debts. That's gonna get outa hand.

If you have a HECS debt or kids with a HECS debt, look into it and see where it's at. Goes up on June 1.
