End-of-day summary:
The share market closed at a three-week high after iron ore rebounded and two of Wall Street's three major benchmarks extended their win runs.
The ASX 200 rallied 20 points or 0.28% to 7015. The index traded as high as 7045 before the mining heavyweights pared their advance.
South32, Fortescue Metals and CSL were the best of the heavyweights, offsetting down-pressure from Newmont, Westpac and Woodside.
US stocks finished mixed overnight during a low-key session without major catalysts to buy or sell. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq gained 0.1% and 0.08%, respectively. The Dow dipped 0.12%.
