The share market finished near a 12-week low in subdued holiday-affected trade ahead of tomorrow's interest rate decision.
The ASX 200 fell 15 points or 0.22% to 7033. Declines in the likes of CSL, Woolworths and ANZ outweighed gains for South32, Rio Tinto and Goodman Group.
Lithium miners outperformed for a second day. Core Lithium and Sayona Mining were the index's best performers, gaining 6.17% and 12.9%, respectively.
Bullish US equity futures helped the benchmark pare an opening 34-point loss. S&P 500 futures rallied 0.47% after Congress passed a stop-gap bill to fund the federal government for another 45 days.
