End-of-day summary:

The share market closed at its highest in more than a week as a bank rally resumed and tech stocks closed at a record.

Spurred by a swing reversal on Wall Street, the ASX 200 climbed 88 points or 1.1% to 8075.7. The big four banks gained between 0.99% and 1.49%, reversing much of yesterday's weakness.

A 2.17% surge on the Nasdaq helped fire the ASX tech sector 2.44% to a new closing high. Block, WiseTech and Xero were among the day's best.

Other standouts included uranium miners, after Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia should consider an export ban, and also battery metal miners in the wake of a production cap at a major Chinese lithium operation.
