Entire state of NSW to go into lockdown within hours: Deputy Premier
The entire state of NSW will go into lockdown starting from 5pm today, the Deputy Premier has said. The lockdown was not announced at the usual 11am press conference, but confirmed by Deputy Premier John Barilaro via Twitter.
"To minimise movement and protect our communities from the evolving COVID situation in Sydney, stay-at-home orders will be introduced for all of Regional NSW from 5pm tonight," Mr Barilaro tweeted."Reasonable excuses to leave your home include shopping for essentials, medical care, caregiving, outdoor exercise with a member of your household or one other person, and work, if you cannot work from home.
"Schooling will be conducted from home."Mr Barilaro informed regional NSW MPs the statewide lockdown would be in effect from this afternoon for at least seven days, the SMH reports.
