The share market headed into a three-day weekend within 50 points of an all-time high after a rebound in select commodities helped fuel a third day of gains.

The ASX 200 rallied 38 points or 0.49% to 7860. Resource stocks rallied following overnight gains in iron ore, copper, gold and oil after the European Central Bank lowered rates for the first time since 2019.

Wall Street will trade twice before the ASX reopens on Tuesday. US employment data tonight is expected to bolster the case for interest rate cuts later this year.

US stocks finished mixed overnight as the market took a breather ahead of tonight's May jobs report. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 finished less than 0.1% lower. The Dow gained 0.2%.
