    H/L
    Many years ago,
on our first trip to England,
the wife and I were privileged
to be taken by a English journalist member who worked in Australia House
to the Wig & Pen for lunch.

    It was a marvellous day.
I recall the narrowness of the building.
The ladies toilets on the very top floor!!!!!
    The history of the building
surviving the Great Fire of London etc
    Reading you mentioning it
    brought back many fond memories.

Cyril Blackman was the journos name.
    Quite a character.
    Later on during that trip,
we stayed with Cyril and his wife in Hayward’s Heath.
They came to Australia some years later and we returned their hospitality
in Bendigo and at our holiday house on the Gippsland lakes.
    He has since passed away.

Last time we were in London,
we went looking for the Wig & Pen.
Sadly, the building housed a ladies hairdresser!!!
    End of an era.
