I don't like to take any loss whatsoever. If I buy a stock it's because I expect it to move up. I have checked the chart and decided where my support and resistance is. The first sign that it's not going up – I sell it. I certainly don't watch a stock tanking and decide I will just hold until it comes back up. I did that in the past and accumulated big losses.
I admit that the market is a bit more forgiving these days and stocks don't tend to drop as hard and then they often bounce. When I started DTing it was more cut-throat. I always seemed to find stocks that never recovered in any reasonable time frame.
So I take the policy of the fewer and smallest losses and then any profits go straight to your bottom line.
