    The local car boot will open up diddly up today with continued overseas strength carrying markets north.
    Futures are 38 points higher at 5406

    In the US investors concluded they might be able to eek out an existence on interest rates of .75% after all and pushed the S&P up .8%, and 2% for the last 2 sessions.
    Banks and oil stock underpinned the rally, and new data showed US house prices increased in the first quarter.
    "Yesterday was certainly a big day, and with the breadth in the market and some of the key groups rallying with bank stocks and semiconductor stocks, these are things telling us that we might be able to hold the rally this time," Matt Maley, an equity strategist at New York-based Miller Tabak & Co said. 1

    Oil rose after a government report showed that US crude inventories and production declined.
    Crude stockpiles fell 4.23 million barrels, more than twice what was projected by analysts in a Bloomberg survey. Production slipped for the 11th week to the lowest level since September 2014, although off the session highs after the report showed that gasoline supplies unexpectedly rose. 1

    Gold prices ended the U.S. day session moderately lower and scored a seven-week low Wednesday. Follow-through technical selling pressure was featured as the near-term chart postures for both gold and silver markets have significantly deteriorated this week. The precious metals bulls are wondering if their markets can once again show the resilience that had been seen in recent weeks, to stop the bleeding. Gold bulls need to step up and show power soon. The recent rally in the U.S. dollar index remains a bearish outside market force for the precious metals markets. 2
