Futures point lower again today after the S&P 500 wangled its way south for the 8th straight session, notching its longest daily losing streak in five years, and extended it to eight on Thursday.
Investors "look at Donald Trump as the great unknown," said Robert Pavlik, chief market strategist at Boston Private Wealth. "Hillary Clinton, while not business friendly, is certainly market friendly."

"This is all about the election and the breaking of technical support," he said. "People are now thinking the 200-day moving average is in play" on the S&P 500, around 2,082.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell about 25 points, with Apple contributing the most losses.
The S&P 500 fell 0.4 percent, with information technology and health care dropping 1 percent.
The Nasdaq composite underperformed, falling about 1 percent. Earlier, the three major indexes traded higher. 1

Oil prices settled down more than 1 percent on Thursday as investors reeled from a record weekly surge in U.S. crude inventories, and remained skeptical about whether OPEC can actually implement its planned output cap.
U.S. crude fell 68 cents, or 1.5 percent, to settle at $44.66 per barrel. At one point, oil had fallen more than $1 a barrel and hit a session low of $44.37.
Brent crude was down 51 cents, or 1.1 percent, at $46.35 a barrel. It hit a session low of 45.99. 2

    Copper: Base metals flat

Gold prices ended the U.S. day session just modestly lower Thursday and well up from the sharp losses seen in early trading. Profit-taking was featured. The early stronger selling pressure in gold and silver markets saw traders very willing to buy the dips, as the near-term technical postures for both metals has turned significantly more bullish this week. 3
