I have traded and invested in the stock market for 3 years with the last 10 months day trading part-time as my only source of income besides my wife's. And I do agree with a lot of what Fluffy say's and can see that. But as we have a fairly simple lifestyle and nothing to pay off only our rent I havent felt a huge pressure to trade constantly on a single day or week. No way would I trade thirty times a day and I have learnt to be content with making what I need and limiting losses as much as possible. I also invest and trade medium term. I made 6k on one trade on RSN the other day and while it looked like a P&D and there was luck involved, I could see it happening and went in for the big trade and for me made enough money to last a couple of weeks.
As a carpenter by trade, I would have to slog my guts out to earn 6k, so all in all I think if I had bigger obligations I would find I would have more pressure on me but I have survived very well trading this year in the market. While I admit that it aint easy at all and there is every chance to fail, day trading as a business/job is possible imo. I have a basic plan but I could do better and am working on that but i am interested to see what others think about this because these thoughts constantly run through my mind because of what others say and my own thoughts.
I think day trading as a business can be quite feasible, but like most jobs requires work and effort and a knowledge of what you are doing. I think having a relatively simple lifestyle, no big debts, extravigent purchases ect also makes such a job feasible.
Cheers
