The Thai Government has cancelled the passport of a fugitive heir to the Red Bull energy drink fortune who is wanted on deadly hit-and-run charges, a Foreign Ministry official said.
    Key points:

    • Vorayuth Yoovidhya disappeared after leaving Singapore and abandoning his private jet last month
    • Thailand to begin process of having Interpol Blue Notice issued
    • 32-year-old facing several charges over fatal 2012 hit-and-run incident in Bangkok

Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya would no longer be able to enter other countries on that passport and his immigration status is invalid in whatever country he is currently visiting, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Busadee Santipitak said.
The 32-year-old left Thailand for Singapore on April 25, two days before he had been ordered to report to prosecutors to be formally charged in court — the eighth time he has missed a summons since legal proceedings began in 2016.

Thai police said Vorayuth had left Singapore after abandoning his private jet and disappeared.
He faces charges of speeding, hit-and-run and reckless driving causing death over an incident in 2012 when he allegedly crashed his black Ferrari into a policeman on a motorcycle in Bangkok.
He allegedly fled the scene, dragging the officer's body for several dozen metres with his car as he did so.
The case was being closely watched in Thailand where it raised questions as to whether the justice system favoured the rich and famous, allowing them to break the law with impunity.

Police Major General Apichart Suribunya said earlier this week that Thailand would begin the process of having Interpol issue a Blue Notice advising officials in 190 countries that Vorayuth was wanted.
Vorayuth is not necessarily immobilised by having his Thai passport revoked.
It is possible to obtain a passport in several countries by making a minimum level of investment, or in some cases, what amounts to almost a straight cash payment.
Vorayuth is a grandson of the late Chaleo Yoovidhya, creator of the Kratin Daeng, or Red Bull, energy drink.
Chaleo, 88, was listed as the third richest person in Thailand at the time of his death in 2012, with an estimated net worth of $6.7 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
The family's total wealth has been estimated at around $27 billion.
