Today is Richter Scale Day, an unofficial holiday honouring the work of the American seismologist. (Seems appropriate after the stock market action across the long weekend.) Richter invented the magnitude scale originally used to measure the intensity of earthquakes. Breakfast is a somewhat austere central European offering from the Cafe Richter in Weitra, Austria.
