Monger Gold to enhance exploration success at Mt Monger South using CSIRO UltraFine+ technology

Monger Gold anticipates the CSIRO technology will boost its exploration success at Mt Monger South.

Monger Gold (ASX: MMG) is the latest junior explorer to boost its potential success with an agreement to use the CSIRO’s UltraFine+ soil sample analysis technology.

The recent ASX debutant has entered an agreement where CSIRO will deliver an UltraFine+ Fraction Soil project to enhance exploration success at its Mt Monger South tenements in Western Australia.

Monger noted the Mt Monger South tenements had areas of deep cover and as a result historical soil sampling efforts had returned patchy results.

“This has previously been understood to be an indicator of poor mineralisation potential, but has since been recognised as a fundamental issue in relation to how samples are collected and analysed, particularly in areas where the cover sequence is thicker,” the company explained.

Due to previous sampling methods being poorly suited to this type of landscape, Monger pointed out potential mineralisation could easily go undetected.

    CSIRO UltraFine technology

After discussions with the CSIRO, Monger is adjusting its exploration approach at Mt Monger South to include the UltraFine+ sampling technology.

Monger anticipates this approach will enhance its chance of exploration success while also improving its understanding of metal weathering and mobility.

The technology will deliver new data analytics and maps for further exploration.

Monger non-executive director Andrew Graham said the company was “excited” carry out the work with the CSIRO and looks forward to receiving prospectivity maps based on the UltraFine+ technology.

“The UltraFine+ method has been utilised by numerous resource companies in Western Australia to considerable effect and we are looking forward to identifying geochemical and mineralogical trends within our tenements that will help us identify new targets.”

    Mt Monger North

Over at Mt Monger North, Monger is finalising targets for a reverse circulation drilling program.
The company expects to begin this program next month.

Mr Graham said the program would involve testing historical gold intersections.
